“Make sure you drink plenty of water!”

“Make sure you drink plenty of water!”

We’ve all heard it; from our family doctor, our chiropractor, our work out instructor, our yoga instructors and yes, even our massage therapist. To which we often reply, “Oh, I do!” or “Yea, I need to be better about that!” But do we really? What is the importance of water, and honestly, how much is really “plenty?!”

Water is literally the foundation of our very existence! Our bodies are made up of 50 some percent water, so doesn’t it make sense that we’d need to drink plenty to keep it fresh and healthy. Think about a lake, the more “fresh water” it gets the healthier the lake remains, so is true for our bodies! A good way to ensure that you are drinking enough water is to divide your body weight in half and drink that many ounces of water. So, if you weigh 204 pounds, you would need to drink 102 ounces of water, or approximately 10, 10 ounce glasses of water each day.
